This school is one of our many local partners, the director of the school serves as a board member for Borderlands Food Bank. Also, Yolanda Soto our director graciously volunteers her time as a board member for this school. It’s wonderful that younger generations are learning hands-on about food, water and nutrition.
Students built a greenhouse and are learning about gardening, water harvesting and becoming self-sufficient while also gaining leadership and job skills.
Eighth-grader Isabella Robles, 13, said students also helped plant the garden at the school’s former building on Morley Avenue and helped plant a pollinator garden at the new campus on North Grand Avenue that is filled with butterflies and small bees. Click here for full article and pictures.
